Why is it so important to have insurance?

Setting aside, the fact that it is required by law in 48/50 states, insurance means another expense, a few dollars more every month/trimester/semester or year. You might look at it that way but insurance will avoid greater expenses in case of an accident. When there is an accident, damages could occur and the party at fault must pay. In many cases, these expenses could be thousands of dollars, not everyone has access to this kind of money, that is where insurance helps you. Instead of paying thousands of dollars, you pay a reasonable amount every time your insurance payment is due.

Why should you get insurance from us?

Unlike other companies, we don’t just want to close a sale. We want you to understand perfectly the coverage in your policy, we want you to pay for what you need, not whatever we say you should pay for. We want you to be protected, yes, but we also don’t want you to pay for unnecessary things. This is why we have created this page with a brief explanation of coverage. You can also get additional information all over our page. We want our customers to be educated on insurance, you don’t need to know it all but you should at least know what is in your policy. This will avoid confusions in the future.

Take as an example one of our customers; he contacted us through our website because he had questions about his policy. The customer was not insured with us, but he thought of us as a reliable source of information.

He paid for a policy, a certain amount of money initially and had been paying for about two months. His car was a victim of vandalism and when he called to place a claim with his insurance company he was told he didn’t have enough coverage for that. But he was never told his policy wouldn’t cover that, he just wanted to get insurance. Nobody ever explained to him the coverages on the policy. He found himself in a very frustrating situation because he didn’t even know if it would cover that or not, turns out it did not. He just relied on the fact that he was insured. This is why it is very important to us for you to understand coverage.

How do I know how much coverage to get?

We will briefly explain coverage. It will all depend on what you want once you know what every coverage is for.

State Required Coverage – General Liability Limits

These requirements are different in every state, it is composed of Bodily Injury and Property Damage. The Bodily Injury Limits will pay for the medical expenses of the party affected. Property Damage will pay for the other person’s car or any other piece of property you may damage. This is a way of assuming responsibility, a responsibility that every driver out there should have.

Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Protection

This is required by law in some states. This will also help you cover unexpected expenses. If someone that doesn’t have insurance or can’t afford to pay for your expenses with their policy, hits you, this coverage will pay for your medical expenses and in some cases a part of your property damage. If the person that impacted your vehicle runs from the scene, this coverage will also take care of the expenses. You might need to write down the license plate.

Comprehensive and Collision – Full Coverage

Full Coverage will take care of damages to your vehicle and is divided into two parts:

Comprehensive:

This will cover different scenarios, vandalism, fire, impacts with animals, getting rolled over, natural disasters, civil disturbances, falling objects and theft among other damages to the vehicle.

Collision:

This will cover damages caused to the vehicle due to impact, for example, an at-fault accident that damages your vehicle or hitting something by accident.

Deductible:

What is the deductible?

It is the amount to pay in a claim before the insurance company pays. You choose the deductible amount when you open the policy, it usually goes from $250 up to $2500. Low deductible, high premium, get a higher deductible, pay a lower insurance premium.

So, at this point, you might already know what you need for your vehicle(s). If you have further questions, feel free to keep exploring our website, we have lots of information that can be useful for you or call us anytime.
