We explain the process to file an insurance claim below:

Ambulance – First Responders: In case of injuries you should call an ambulance. Normally the medical expense coverage of your auto insurance covers the expenses that may be generated from this.

Police: You must make a police report in case there are injuries or in case another person was involved in the accident do not have auto insurance and/or leave the scene. More information about this below.

Insurer:

If you caused the accident, contact your insurer. Make a report and provide your insurer information to the other people involved.

And, if the accident was not your fault, ask for the car insurance information of the person who caused the accident. Reporting what happened is what you need to do next. If the person who was at fault, does not have auto insurance, take the license plate number from the car as quickly as you can in case this person leaves the scene.

If it is not clear who was at fault, the insurance company adjusters will do an investigation.

Either way, always make sure to report the accident to your auto insurance company. You should report the accident as soon as possible to avoid complications.
